The FIRST Tech Challenge is about students being involved in teams where they develop unique strategies and build robots based on engineering principles.  The program teaches each individual student to respect everyone’s ideas and contributions to the team.  FIRST Tech Challenge consists of a new challenge every year and each team works together to come up with a solution for the given game.  The values of FIRST are about understanding differences and being able to teach as well as learn from one another. FIRST programs succeed in bringing this learning into each team who then bring it back to the communities.

The FTC competition Kit challenges students to define a problem and come up with a creative way to solve it through building a robot who can tackle these obstacles.  The robots are designed and built with both autonomous programs and operator controls to perform different tasks. This takes students out of their comfort zone while broadening their knowledge of multiple subjects.
